Local accountant Derek Fosse, 47, discovered last Tuesday that he has been paying $89 per quarter to Greenleaf Pest Solutions for a property on Wisteria Lane he sold in March 2014, meaning the current owners of the home have enjoyed twelve years of fully funded, professionally administered pest protection at no cost to themselves.

Fosse identified the charge while preparing his 2025 tax return, initially flagging it as a potential deduction before realizing he no longer owns anything on Wisteria Lane and has not since the first Obama administration. A review of his bank statements confirmed 48 consecutive quarterly payments totaling $4,272, all successfully processed, none disputed.

“The house is completely ant-free,” said Greenleaf customer service representative Kayla Murch, 29, who pulled the account record and confirmed active service. “We’ve been out there every March, June, September, and December. Excellent client history. No complaints.”

“I called the current owners to let them know. They seemed real grateful. Asked if I wanted to keep the account going.”

Fosse said the charge had survived four bank account migrations, two financial advisors, one Dave Ramsey course, and a weekend marriage retreat that included a session specifically on household budget transparency. His wife, Renee, 45, declined to comment on the record.

He has submitted a cancellation request and been informed there is a 30-day notice period.

At press time, Fosse had received a thank-you card from the Wisteria Lane homeowners, a couple named the Hendersons, who described the last twelve years as “honestly some of the best we’ve ever had.”
