Craig Fenner, 41, deleted his primary social media application at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday in what he later described as a “life-changing decision,” then reinstalled it at 9:51 p.m. after wondering whether anyone had responded to a post he made earlier about his sandwich.

Fenner, a mid-level logistics coordinator and self-described “pretty reflective guy,” confirmed the deletion was accompanied by a brief but intense sense of freedom before the uncertainty set in. He cited the sandwich post, an unresolved comment thread about the Nuggets, and a general fear that something notable might be happening without his awareness as contributing factors in the reinstallation.

“Those four minutes were honestly the clearest I’ve felt in years,” Fenner said. “Then I remembered I’d posted that sandwich and I couldn’t just leave it out there unmonitored.”

His wife, Dana Fenner, 39, said she watched the entire sequence from across the couch without comment. “He does this about every six weeks,” she said. “I’ve started timing it.”

Fenner has since announced a second deletion attempt scheduled for this weekend, contingent on the sandwich post reaching a “natural resolution.” The sandwich received four likes. The post has not been resolved.

At press time, Fenner had opened the app to share a brief update about how he was planning to delete the app.
