PHOENIX, AZ — Kyle Brannigan, 31, a day trader and self-described “man of discernment,” has filed paperwork to register “Brannigan Prophetic Futures LLC” as a tax-exempt religious organization after earning $47,000 on the prediction market platform Polymarket, a sum he insists represents “tithes from the Lord, not capital gains.”
Brannigan, who correctly wagered on the timing of recent geopolitical events, told reporters he first recognized his “prophetic gifting” in late February when he placed a $5,000 bet that he described as “less of a trade and more of a word of knowledge.”
“Same anointing, different dispensation,” Brannigan explained from a WeWork conference room he has renamed “The Upper Room.” “Elijah called down fire. I called a 72% probability on geopolitical escalation within a fourteen-day window. The Spirit moves how the Spirit moves.”
“I told him that the gift of prophecy is not the same as reading Reuters at 4 a.m. He asked me to pray about it. I told him I had.”
Pastor Ray Delano of Brannigan’s home church, Cornerstone Fellowship, offered the above comment, adding that he had “serious pastoral concerns” about the $19.99/month premium subscription Brannigan is now offering through his website under the tagline “Tomorrow’s Headlines, Today — By Faith.”
The IRS has not yet responded to Brannigan’s filing. His LinkedIn profile now reads “Prophet | Futures Trader | Blessed” and features a headshot taken at a men’s retreat.
At press time, Brannigan had lost $8,200 on a subsequent wager and was referring to the loss as “a season of testing.”
